It’s no secret that I love Istria. Love the people, love the food, the wine and the small coastal towns all along the peninsula. From what it’s like, it seems that I like the hotels, too. I mean Istria has, without any doubts, some of the best hotels on the Adriatic coast. Umag, in particular. This one I’ve stayed in, proves that. It’s one of the first hotels you reach when arriving from the north. It has five stars. It’s the Adults only hotel. It has a great spa. And it’s footsteps away from the beach. What more could you wish for?!
The coral red hotel (no wonder why is it called Coral) is located in the tourist resort called Katoro. That means lots of other hotels around, activities, sport grounds, beaches and bars. When you reach the hotel, the first thing you’ll notice is the red carpet in front of it; waiting just for you. But not only the carpet is red, the walls are red, too. Well, dark red. The chairs, the couches, also. It got me thinking that this hotel got some serious swag. I like it’s style. Not really from the outside, but the inside is a completely different story.
The lobby is really nice. Gold and red interweave all from the main entrance to the bar and finally to the pool terrace. Then, at the middle of the lobby, there is a horse. Not the real one, of course. This one has a lamp on his head which is quite interesting. Piano is also here. Well, not on the horse’s head, but in the lobby. What I like is the bar which has a kind of intimate atmosphere with all the dimmed lights and details in burgundy colour.
THE ROOM – PRESIDENTIAL SUITE
The rooms are pretty much standard for a 5* hotel. There is a nice bathroom and a balcony and the big red bed, of course, with red roses on the nightstand. Nice detail. But mine room was even slightly better, I dare to say. I was given the Presidential suite and it was, well… awesome!
Dark wood floor, crystal chandelier, bouquet of roses on the table, a comfy sofa, the big tv and a great bathroom with two sinks and big bathtub with separate shower. Balcony with a sea view, included. Yes, of course, there’s also a bedroom which is separated from the living room with the blurred glass door. I guess everything needed for a perfect vacation is present.
WELLNESS AND OUTDOOR POOL
If you’re not planning staying in the room that much, then you’ll probably be hanging somewhere around the wellness zone. Gym, saunas, massages, indoor pool, mediterranean relax garden – you name it, it’s there. But the real gem is the outdoor pool and the pool terrace. I didn’t have the best of the weather nor it was Summer but still it was the highlight of the hotel, in my opinion. Especially at night, when everything is lighted up in different colours. The bar is here, the music is playing, the sea is a few steps away from the pool and your perfect night of a perfect vacation can begin.
So, what you’re waiting for?!
Thank you Melia Coral Umag. Looking forward to my next stay with you again.
