Located in the very city centre of Porto, just an easy few minutes walk from the train station, hotel Teatro is definitely one of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed in. Even though that’s not something you’ll think the first time you see it. Well, from outside. It looks like every other city hotels, I almost missed it while walking to it the first time. Well, the second too. But wait until you get to the main entrance.
The doormen will politely say hello and open for you the most mysterious hotel door I’ve seen. The metallic door was covered with some Portuguese written words, I’ve no idea if it was poem or some written story but it looked nice. Very dramatic, too. Along with the dramatic entrance, the hotel itself follow that vibe even more inside. Kinda bit dark, mystic and very creative concept I’d say. Just like the theatre. I get now that the outside was just a backstage, the inside of the hotel is where the actual play is. And the play looked fantastic. Very nice decorated lobby, reception and the bar area with costumes hanging from the ceiling and with all the lights creating unique atmosphere… it was definitely one of the most interesting interior designs of a hotel I’ve seen.
The stuff were super nice, check-in very quick and in a few minutes I was already on my elevator to 6th floor. My room was on the top floor, I suppose, as it had a beautiful big rooftop terrace. The room design followed the hotel rustic-contemporary design as well. Dark walls, floor and a large bed in the middle of to room with a glass wall that separates bathroom and shower from the room.
The bathroom and a shower, like the rest of the room, well, the whole hotel, were in the bronze and gold colours. Everything blends in perfectly and is designed great to the details.
The highlight of my room was a rooftop terrace. Having a breakfast with a view of Porto’s skyline was such a nice experience.
The breakfast was also a highlight of my stay. Definitely one of the best and richest breakfast I had while on my trip to Portugal. Champagne is served, too if you wanna start your day right :)
Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at the Hotel Teatro. One of the most unique and well designed hotel I’ve stayed in.
And the best thing is that the service also follows the quality of the build.
Thank you for the nice stay, Hotel Teatro.
